For the treatment and metaphylaxis of furunculosis in rainbow trout caused by Aeromonas salmonicida susceptible to florfenicol in freshwater fisheries. The presence of the disease should be established in the holding unit before initiating the treatment.

Aquaflor^®, a synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic which inhibits bacteria by interfering with protein synthesis, is active in vitro against a number of important bacterial pathogens of salmon including: Aeromonas salmonicida, Vibrio salmonicida, Vibrio anguillarum and Yersinia ruckeri. Aquaflor^® is rapidly absorbed from the intestine of salmon when administered in medicated feed. It is excreted mainly in the urine and bile.
